Our Staff at Stevens Funeral Chapel is committed to providing excellent, personal service to the families that come into our care. We are also involved in our community on many different levels. We serve on local boards; support local organization, community programs and festivals as well as host community events.
Alan and Avia Thompson
Alan and Avia Thompson are the current owners of Stevens Funeral Chapel. Alan entered the funeral business in October of 2002 in Spokane. After completing his degree in Chicago in 2004, he returned to Spokane and spent 2 years working in a high volume firm. In 2007 he and Avia purchased Danekas Funeral Home in Ritzville, where he currently works and runs both businesses from. Alan is involved in every aspect of the operation at Stevens Funeral Chapel.
Leeland "Dean" Lewis
Dean entered funeral service February 14, 2011 at Stevens Funeral Chapel. He is active in all areas of planning and implementing the wishes of our clients. He also tends to much of the day to day operations and logistics of the funeral home. He has lived in Othello all of his life. He is an active father, who participates in many school activities including acting as a chaperone for the school on his children’s field trips and supporting other extra curricular activities. Dean obtained his Funeral Director’s license in August of 2016.
Jo Ann Miller
Jo Ann Miller began as a Funeral Assistant at Stevens Funeral Chapel June 27, 2016. She obtained her Washington State Funeral Director and Embalmer Internship License November 16, 2016. Jo Ann is currently pursuing an Associates in Specialized Technology Degree through Pittsburg Institute of Mortuary Science. Her journey to us includes 13 years as a Paraprofessional at the Lind-Ritzville School District in Lind, Washington. She is also an Air Force veteran, serving 6 years as a Medical Technician at Beale, A.F.B. in California.
