DOB 05/01/1953 DOD 08/28/2025 Written & provided by family. Felipe Martinez Sr., 72, of Othello, Washington, passed away peacefully on August 28th in Spokane, Washington, surrounded by his wife, Rosa Martinez, and children: Felipe Jr., Roberto, Lorenzo, Luis, Juan, Patricia, and his grandchildren. Felipe was born on May 1st, 1953, in Doctor Arroyo, Nuevo León, Mexico, to Juana and Lorenzo Martinez. He began helping his parents and brothers with farm work at just eight years old, doing his part alongside them. Felipe met and married his wife, Rosa Maria Zamarripa, in Houston, Texas, in 1974. They soon made their home in Othello, Washington, where they went on to have six children. Felipe dedicated himself to his wife and family, creating a wonderful life and providing opportunities for his children and grandchildren. When he moved to Othello as a child, Felipe worked with his family at Taggeres Farms. He later moved to a position with Hartwig Farms before earning a lead position at Knight Family Farms in Connell, Washington, where he eventually "retired." Felipe was a dedicated man who earned his U.S. citizenship in 2014. His work was not only his duty but also his way of caring for his family. It was clear that Felipe could "never sit down." So, he came out of retirement to open a business with his son. Felipe found purpose in staying dedicated—not only to his work but also to his family. He spent his life attending his children’s and grandchildren’s sports, concerts, and activities. With broad shoulders and an easily recognizable face, you could spot Felipe at every event, even under his hat. When he wasn’t supporting from the stands, he was building something at home or working in the garden with Rosa. In his later years, Felipe worked many jobs for people in the Columbia Basin. If something needed fixing, building, lifting, or leading, he was the one you could count on. Felipe made the impossible look fast and easy, not for praise, but simply because it needed to be done. For that, everyone knew him as "The Hardworking Man" in Othello. Felipe’s legacy is one of strength, skill, and steadfastness that inspired his family and everyone around him to be like him. He cared deeply for his family and everyone in his community. Felipe is survived by his wife, Rosa Zamarripa Martinez; children Felipe (Lana), Madison, and Maddox Martinez; Roberto, Dominique, and Damon Martinez; Lorenzo (Dezire) and Jacoby Martinez; Luis, Maison, and Marley Martinez; Juan (Fabiola) and Xzyan, Xzyyvn, Xzyylee, and Xzyahmir Martinez; and Patricia (Emilio), Adamarie, Analee, and Itzel Iniguez.
