HOLM, Roni Marie (Age 70). DIed on June 16, 2026. Born February 2, 1956 in Los Angeles,
California to Ronald and Dolores Holm. Roni was raised in Spokane, Washington , the oldest of
four children. She attended public school in Spokane and then went on to Eastern Washington
University where she received her Bachelors Degree in Special Education and Regular
Education in 1978. Roni’s dream was to be a teacher.
Roni started her teaching career at Elmwood Elementary in Blackfoot Idaho where she taught
3rd grade from 1978 through 1990. Roni then transferred to Washington state teaching one
year in Longview Washington before finding her permanent home in Othello. Roni taught at all
four grade schools in Othello, starting out in Special Education at Scootney from 1991 - 1993,
then moving to Lutacaga where she taught grades 3 through 6, from 1994 to 2001. From
Lutacaga she moved to Hiawatha where she taught grades 5 and 6. Roni ended her career at
Wahitis, retiring in 2022.
Roni was a voracious reader who loved period books and fiction. Roni was extremely creative.
She was an excellent pianist and seamstress. She was part of the quilting group in Othello
where they create beautiful quilts to donate to charity. Roni played Mass for Sacred Heart
Catholic Church for thirty-five years. Roni was also a part of the crocheting group in Othello,
where she regularly spent her time teaching the youth in that group how to crochet. She was
also talented in cross stitching.
Roni was a woman of intellect and sharp wit, who loved to laugh. She was known for her
kindness and generosity as well as her commitment to helping others. Roni was the
quintessential big sister, always looking out for her siblings' best interest, making sure they were
protected and in line as children and providing advice and counsel as adults . She will be
greatly missed by all that knew her. She is preceded in death by her parents, her sister Betsy
and her nephew Nathan Proctor.
