Obituary of Abel Cantu

DOB 08/22/1962 DOD 03/18/2025 Written and provided by family. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Abel S. Cantu on March 18,2025 at the age of 62. He was born on August 22, 1962 in San Antonio, Texas to David and Micaela Cantu. As a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, his legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. Abel graduated from Othello High School in 1981 and was a dedicated employee of McCain Foods for 30 years as a machine operator, leaving a positive impression with his colleagues. After retirement Abel took the time to enjoy life with his family and friends. His love for music started at an early age and as a teenager he began playing with the band Grupo Sigglo as the drummer. Throughout his life Abel loved heading out to the lake, casting out a line, and popping open a cold one. As an avid fan of the Seattle Seahawks, you were always welcome to join in on his excitement during game time. One of the many ways Abel connected with those around him. Abel is preceded in death with both his parents, David and Micaela. He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years Dalia; his two children Vito (Alyssa), and Yvette; and six grandchildren Vonnel, Victoria, Jay, Abel, Angel, and Ryan who were his pride and joy, and the light of his life. He is also survived by his siblings who he held near to his heart and kept a close bond throughout his life: Micaela (Joel), David (Esmeralda), Mary, Diana, and Armando. The love Abel had for his family was immeasurable. Abel’s generosity, unconditional love, and sense of humor will be greatly missed. As a man who filled life with purpose, his legacy will forever remain in the hearts of his family and friends. May he rest in peace.
