DeGroot, 56, of Othello, Washington, passed away on April 5, 2025, after a courageous 6½-year battle with breast cancer. A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend, Cindy's radiant spirit touched the lives of everyone who knew her. Born and raised in Othello, Cindy graduated from Othello High School in 1987. She spent over a decade working with Boersma Farms. In 2021, she married the love of her life, Kevin DeGroot, and together they created a life full of love, laughter, and cherished memories. Cindy was preceded in death by her father, Walter Tennant. She is survived by her husband, Kevin DeGroot; her loving mother, Shirley Tennant; sister, Chris Tennant; and brother, Steve Tennant. Cindy’s greatest joy was her family. She is deeply loved and missed by her children Alyssa (Vito), Ashli, Jake, and Jackie (Forest); her seven grandchildren Vonnel, Jay, Abel, Jocelyn, Aubrielle, Ryan, and Isaiah; and her two treasured pup babies, Scarlett and Faith Hope. Cindy was the embodiment of love, strength, and resilience. Diagnosed with breast cancer in November 2018, she faced every day with grace and determination, inspiring all who walked beside her. She found joy in simple pleasures—sitting on the deck with friends and family, soaking in the sight of beautiful sunsets, tending to her garden, and watching hummingbirds flit around their feeders. She loved to travel, especially to warm places with beaches, and never passed up the chance to make memories with loved ones. Her passion for being a grandmother showed in the way she showed up for many events, milestones, and every hug. She adored sunflowers—bright and full of life, just like her. Her smile could light up any room, no matter what she was going through. A funeral service to celebrate Cindy’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 25, 2025, at Othello Nazarene Church. The chapel will open at 10:00 a.m. for those who would like to share their condolences. A reception will follow the service. At the request of the family, the burial will be private. Cindy’s legacy of love, strength, and unwavering joy lives on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who had the honor of knowing her.
