Obituary of Marcelina Martinez

Marcelina (Martha) Martinez, age 78, of Warden Washington, passed away January 16, 2015 at Serenity Hope Adult Family Home in Othello, Washington. She was born in San Benito, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, on September 3rd, 1936 to parents Pablo Garza Lopez, and Geronima Martinez Vela. Martha was married to Mariano G. Martinez on March 27th, 1954. Mariano passed away just two months ago, November 18th, 2014. Martha was a loving mother; she enjoyed sewing, and reading the bible. She loved birds, cooking Menudo, and baking Gorditas. You never went home hungry. Martha was a kind, caring, sharing woman. Although Martha will be missed, we find comfort in that; she and Mariano are together again. She was survived by her six children; Martha (Jesus) Rodriguez of Dinuba California, Mirthala Sanchez of Dinuba California, Irene (Jesus) Pruneda of Warden, Washington, Maribel (Benancio Vela) Martinez of Warden, Washington, Mariana Barrera of Mission Texas, and Mariano (Isabel) Martinez of Pharr, Texas, and siblings; Micaela (Jesus) Alvarez of Sultana, California, Felipe (Juanita) Garza of Sultana, California, Cecilio (Elida) Garza of Othello, Washington, Petra (Cornelio) Hernandez of Pasco, Washington, Tomasa Amaral of Othello, Washington, Pablo (Armandina) Garza of Othello, Washington, Canuto (Rosario) Garza of Othello, Washington, Maria Martinez of Othello, Washington, Adan (Ubalda) Garza of Othello, Washington, and Jaime Garza of Othello, Washington. Martha also leaves 18 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren to cherish her loving memory. She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and brother, Gerardo Garza. A viewing was held from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm, Thursday, January 22nd, 2015, at Stevens Funeral Chapel in Othello, Washington. Funeral Services were held at 10:00 am, Friday, January 23rd, 2015, at Bethel Assembly of God Church in Othello, Washington. Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Chapel.
