Marian Sue Parks, 64, was born on May 20, 1959 in Othello, WA. Marian peacefully passed away January 14, 2024, after a brief illness. She was the youngest daughter of Ralph Donald and Nina Jean Taylor Parks of Othello, WA. Marian was a graduate from Othello High School and attended Central Washington University. Her love of cooking earned her a degree from Spokane Community College Culinary Arts School in 1985. Marian was instantly hired by Princess Cruises as Chef on the Midnight Sun Express Train from Anchorage to Fairbanks, AK during the summer tour season. During the winter seasons, Marian worked at a variety of resorts including, Sun Valley, ID. Eventually she opened her own restaurant in Othello "Marian’s Old Hotel Restaurant" located in the Old Hotel Art Gallery. Everyone loved her culinary delights, especially her family and cousins who enjoyed her culinary skills at the annual Parks-Taylor Reunions. Marian was always known for her gracious and welcoming heart, her love of laughter, and the ability to play a mean game of Skip-Bo, which she seldom, if ever lost. Later in life, her mother, Nina, developed Alzheimer’s disease and Marian became her primary caretaker. With the support of her two sisters, this allowed Nina to remain in the family home and Marian to become the manager of the family farm. Marian’s oldest sister, Linda Jean Parks-Marean preceded her in death on October 16, 2023. Marian is survived by her husband, Stanley Floyd, her stepdaughters Kym Floyd of Othello, WA and Stacee Floyd and her three children Jacob, Corbin and Carlee of Moses Lake, WA. Sister, Cheryl Taylor (William “Bill” Walker) of Othello, WA; brother-in-law William “Bill” Marean of Lawrenceburg, KY; nieces Carrie Marean-Reardon (Patrick) of Philomath,OR, and Rachel Marean-Linares (Gino) and grand-nephew Adan Linares and grand-niece Eva Linares of Lawrenceburg, KY. Marian is survived by several Taylor cousins who loved her dearly. Memorial services will be held later in February.
