Obituary of Richard Ortiz

Richard Ortiz of Moses Lake Washington, passed in peace on December 26th, 2014 at age 60, at Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane Washington. He was born in Toppenish Washington on June 18th, 1954 to parents Roque and Refugia Ortiz. In 1972 Richard graduated from Othello High School. He was man of many trades as an industrial mechanic for the better part of his life and had just received his longevity award, for 20 years’ service at Simplot. In the early 1970’s he married Alicia Cantu, and in 1974 he was blessed with his son Jose Ricardo Ortiz Jr. and in 1977 his beloved daughter Angelica Alicia Ortiz. He later divorced and made his journey through California, Alaska and his heart brought him back to Washington, where he made his home in Moses Lake. In his off time he enjoyed being outdoors, going fishing, hunting, and being with his family. He had many lifelong friends, and his contagious laugh will be dearly missed. He was survived by his children, Jose Ricardo (Chico) Ortiz of Quincy Washington and Angelica (Jerry) Escamilla of Othello Washington, his siblings; Janie Dominguez of Fullerton California, Joe A. Ortiz of Yakima Washington, Maria C. Ortiz of Houston Texas, Mauricio (Mick) Ortiz of Yakima Washington, Rosa Ortiz of Othello Washington, Joe (Leonard) Ortiz of Spokane Washington, and Enedelia Lopez of Toppenish Washington. Richard also leaves 6 grandchildren to cherish his living memory. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Arturo (Dino) Ortiz, his son Jamie Zavala, his two nieces, Krystal Rose Ortiz, and Demetria Monet (Demi) Cisneros- Ortiz. Viewing will be held on January 5th, 2015 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 pm, following with the rosary at 3:00 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Chapel in Othello Washington. Funeral Services will be held on January 6th, 2015 at 10:00 am, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Othello Washington. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Chapel.
