Obituary of Dora Gomez

Dora Gomez 74, returned to her heavenly home on June 14, 2015, after a valiant battle with a long illness. Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God supported her in her struggle and ultimately gave her peace. Dora was born and raised to the late Merced & Reyna De La Rosa of Edinburg, TX, a labor worker and homemaker respectively. Surviving with one younger sibling Hermalinda Guajardo, Dora received her education in the State of Texas. She worked beside her husband Alfredo as a truck driver, and managed there successful owned trucking business. Dora was blessed with a large and loving family. She married her best friend Alfredo Gomez, on April 15, 1959, in Edinburg, TX. After starting a family, Dora and Fred moved to Washington State in the year of 1961, where they raise nine children with “patience,” discipline and a stiff chancla. She taught them the meaning of hard work and to respect and love one another. Dora was a joyful and loving at heart wife and mother. She was kind and forgiving, and always had the time to give her opinion. Her favorite hobbies were listening to music, playing bingo, making Jewelry and most of all spending time with her family. She will be dearly missed by her loved ones, who celebrate the fact that she is at peace with her creator. Dora was survived by her children; David (Linda) Gomez of Othello, Diana (Ruben) Guerrero of Pharr TX, Dalia (Able) Cantu of Othello, Dora (Gilbert) Franco of Othello, Ida Lou Gomez of Othello, Dilia (Edward) Simmons of Washington DC, Daisy (Van) Kemper of Othello, Delia Girl (Emilio) Mendoza of Othello, and 30 grandchildren, 41 Great grandchildren, and her sister Hermalinda Guajardo. Dora is preceded in death by her loving husband Alfredo, Daughter Diamantina & parents Merced & Reyna De La Rosa. Viewing/Rosary will be held June 22, 2015 from 4-7 pm at Stevens Funeral Chapel in Othello, WA. Funeral services will be held June 23, 2015 from 10am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Othello, WA followed with a reception.
