Obituary of Herman Karl Krupa

Herman Karl Krupa, age 91 of Othello, passed away on Monday, August 17th, at La Country Care in Othello. He was born in Spokane, WA on May 27, 1924. Herman graduated from Rogers High school in Spokane, and a little later enlisted in the United States Navy, during W.W.2, where he found himself on a 600 foot supply ship, the U.S.S. Bauxite, where he toured the Far East, even spending a day with fellow serviceman brother Paul in Saipan. Then, back in Spokane, Herman worked for the Spokane Chronicle, and fixed small appliances, until getting a job with the Burlington Northern Railroad. In 1948 he married his sweetheart Evva Louise Chamberlain. Afterwords, Herman got a job with the Milwaukee Railroad as a diesel electrician, which brought them to Othello to start off their lives. Herman was involved with the Lions Club, Elks, Jaycees, and V.F.W. Herman's hobbies were collecting stamps, coins, photography and making many, many things with his hands, like knives, necklaces, and beer can bi-planes. Herman was the kind of guy that could fix ANYTHING ! Herman valued family greatly, spending lots of time with his granddaughter Jasmane, and helping raise his grandsons Karl and James. That prepared him for the next 3 grandchildren that came into his life-Monica, Ray, and Terra. Then, his last grandson Jared arrived. Herman could be seen all over town. At the local Farmers Market, helping at the Food Bank, and at the Senior Center, as well as drinking coffee with friends at all the local "coffee watering holes". He was a member of The Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Othello. He is survived by children Jon (Lisa) Krupa of Othello, Marcie Hutchison of Othello, 7 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by parents Karl and Hattie, wife Evva Lou, grandson Jonathan Karl Krupa jr, and great grandson Braden Hutchison., sister Charlotte, and brother Paul. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 29th at 10:00 a.m., at The Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Othello. A graveside service will follow, and then back to the church to celebrate his life. The family would like to thank La Country Care. Their care and compassion is second to none, and made our dad feel special in his final days. Also thanks to dads doctor, Richard Bunch.
