Obituary of Elida G. Valdez
Elida G. Valdez, age 88, of Connell, Washington, passed into the Lord’s care September 12, 2015 at Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland, Washington. She was born in Hidalgo, Nuevo Leon, Mexico on September 9, 1927 to parents Jesus Gonzalez and Estanislada Pruneda. She was raised, along with her 16 siblings, in Hidalgo. Elida was married to Onofre Valdez in October of 1944. Together they had 7 children. They were migrant farm workers and moved around quite a bit. Onofre passed away February 25, 1968. Elida and the children settled in Connell in 1970. Elida found work at Lamb Westen, what is now known as Conagra. She worked there from 1972 until retiring in 2001. She was a member of the St. Vincent’s Catholic Church, and volunteered there as a Eucharist minister and was member of the Altar Society. She loved her family, she always put their needs ahead of her own. She will be dearly missed. She was survived by her Children; Roosevelt Valdez of Edinburg Texas, Onofre Jr. Valdez of Weslaco Texas, Isaias (Alicia) Valdez of Connell Washington, Uvense (Alma) Valdez of Weslaco Texas, Elida (Leonardo) Fernandez of Connell Washington and Mary (Kyle) Kohne of Oregon City, Oregon. Elida also leaves 5 siblings; Enedina, Baldemar, Elvira, Eliseo and Edelmira, 20 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 15 plus 2 on the way great great grandchild to cherish her loving memory.
She is proceeded in death by her husband, Onofre Valdez, son Aniceto Valdez, daughter in law Julianita G. Valdez and two grandchildren Jose Uvense Valdez and Margarita Valdez.
A visitation will be held from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm, Friday, September 18, 2015, at St. Vincent’s Catholic Church in Connell Washington, which includes a Rosary at 6:30pm.
Catholic Mass will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, September 19, 2015, at St. Vincent’s Catholic Church with burial to follow at Mountain View Cemetery. To leave an online condolence to the family, please visit our website at www. Stevensfc.com.
