Obituary of Virginia Kaye Scheenstra

Virginia Kaye Scheenstra, age 58, of Othello, Washington, passed away October 31, 2015 at her home surrounded by the love of her family and friends. She was born in Chicago, Illinois on March 3, 1957. Virginia graduated from Notre Dame High School. She was married to Clarence Scheenstra on October 23, 1997 at Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho. Virginia and her husband were the proud owner operators of Scheenstra Dairy in Othello, Washington. Virginia was a member of the Republican Presidential Roundtable, the Fraternal Order of Eagles as well as of various cancer and veterans support groups and associations. She had many interests in life, but nothing made her more happy than taking care of her animals, being surrounded by those she loved, baking with her grandchildren, and being both a mother and wife. She was a success in all she did as a loving and caring mother and wife!! Her life was full as was her heart. She was selfless, compassionate, and caring for those in need and suffering. Her life was full of promise and was met to overflowing capacity. Life will be very different and she will be sadly missed by her family and those that know her. She is survived by her husband, mother, Ruth Salerno of Chicago, Illinois, and her children; Cher M. Salerno of Chicago, Illinois, David T. (Lisa) of Bremerton, Washington, Anthony E. (Noreen) Vally of Spokane, Washington, Joshua C. Scheenstra of Othello, Washington, and her 7 grandchildren, and one great grandchild. Virginia also leaves step-children Bettie (Craig) Baird of Naches, Washinton, Arlene (Pat) McCarthy of Aegen, Minnesota, John (Mary Jane) Scheenstra of Frazier Park, California, Mary Jane (Robert) Dey of Caldwell, Idaho, Bill (Susan) Scheenstra of Sunnyside, Washington, Robert (Connie) Scheenstra of Pasco, Washington and the numerous grandchildren they provided. She is proceeded in death by her father, Robert Capps of Evansville, Indiana, her aunt, Catherine Capps of Evansville, Indiana, and step-son, Perry Scheenstra of Sunnyside, Washington. A private family funeral service will be held at a later date. Personal condolences can be mailed to the family at 1790 Alexander Rd. Sunnyside, Washington 98944. Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Chapel.
