Obituary of Ignacio R Solis
Ignacio (Nacho) R. Solis, a long time Othello resident, passed away at age 79 on January 17, 2016, while in Mexico. Ignacio was born on August 28, 1937, in Cuidad Acuña, Coahuila, to parents Ignacio and Francisca Solis. He resided in Othello amongst friends and family for 43 years.
On November 25, 1955, Ignacio married Consuelo (Corona) Solis in Mexico. Together, the two raised a family of three sons and six daughters. Ignacio was an avid sports fan who enjoyed watching boxing, baseball and football, especially when the Mariners or Seahawks were playing. He also enjoyed watching Novelas and Las Cortes from the Spanish Station. Ignacio also loved to go fishing with friends, and when he wasn’t watching his favorite sports, you could always find him, cup of coffee in hand, enjoying the weather outside.
Every late-fall, Ignacio would travel to his home in Mexico where he would reside throughout the winter months, returning home to Othello each spring. He would always tell stories about cruising in his car with his best friend Don Miguel and sitting at “Arturo Peña” and hanging out with his childhood buddies. He lived an optimistic life with a carefree disposition and said he felt happy and young. But most of all, his family made him the happiest. He would love when the whole family would get together at his house on long summer days, and was always trying to take control of the grilling. He loved watching his grandchildren and great grandchildren running around the kitchen table while he reminisced and entertained us with stories from when he was young or he would sit around laughing at jokes made by Nachito.
Ignacio was the father of three sons: Ignacio and wife Barbara Solis, Othello; Eddie and Angela, Pasco; and Jose de Jesus and wife Tina Solis, Royal City; as well as 6 daughters: Reynalda Gamino, Pasco; Sylvia and John Silva, Burlington; Connie and husband Cruz Solis, Burlington; Lilia and husband Rudy Ontiveros, Pasco; Maribel Garza, Othello; and Alma and husband Adrian Corpus, Pasco, WA. Ignacio was also the grand and great-grandfather to 20 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Consuelo and two grandsons. He was loved by many, both near and far, and will be dearly missed.
A visitation will be held from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm, Saturday, January 23, 2016, at Stevens Funeral Chapel, with funeral service to follow at 4:00 pm the same day.
