Obituary of Christopher C. Smith
Christopher C. Smith, 46, of Othello, Washington, passed away April 4, 2016 in Kennewick, Washington. He was born at Fairchild Air Force Base in Spokane, Washington on April 29, 1969 to parents, Douglas and Cheri Smith.
He graduated from Othello High School in 1987 and enlisted in the U.S. Army serving in a tank support role for Iraqi Desert Storm including service in Germany. He attained the rank of Specialist 4 before being honorably discharged in 1991.
Upon returning home, his passion for farming and raising cattle became his career. He and his brother, Scott, owned and operated Smith Brother’s Farms. They continued farming together until his death. He was a volunteer fireman for Franklin County Fire District 4.
On, January 16, 1999, he married Toni German. Together, they raised six children and a menagerie of animals. He enjoyed spending time with his family whether it be camping, barbecuing, swimming, and assisting his children with showing sheep at the fair.
He is survived by his wife Toni Smith, his children Estrella Marroquin, Elise German, Hannah, Allison, Ivan, and Ian Smith, grandchildren Calise Gaines and Ayezec Grieder, parents Doug and Cheri Smith, grandmother Jo Smith, and siblings Scott Smith, Shane (Sandy) Smith, Heidi (Larry) Moffet, and Dustin (Heather) Smith, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by grandparents Ivan Smith of Othello and Elmer and Agnes Burk of McDonald, Kansas.

A visitation will be held at 4:00 pm Thursday, April 7, 2016, ending with a Rosary at 6:00 pm, at Stevens Funeral Chapel in Othello, Washington. Catholic Mass will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, April 8, 2016, at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Eltopia, Washington followed by a luncheon in the parish hall. Burial will be at 2:30 pm at Bess Hampton
