Obituary of Evelyn Hallquist

Evelyn J. Hallquist, 91, of Othello, Washington, was called home to reunite with her loving husband Ralph and their holy family to continue their journey April 10, 2016. Evelyn heard the soft call of the Lord, and knew this was the right time, with one last beat of the heart a final farewell. She was born in Wilton, North Dakota on August 21, 1924. After graduating from high school Evelyn got permission from her parents to move to Seattle where she got an office job as a key punch operator during WWII. Small town girl to city life Evelyn loves the excitement of the city life. She meets a young sailor through mutual friends and the sparks fly. After the wedding they moved to New York while Ralph was in the Navy and Evelyn continued working as a key punch operator. She married Ralph Hallquist in 1945. They moved to Othello in 1947, where they raised their children. Evelyn enjoyed gardening. Evelyn was a great cook, and her holiday dinners will always be remembered she had a very good sense of humor, but her primary passion in life was for her family. She was survived by: her two daughters, Patty Davey, and Lori (Steven) Scott, both of Leavenworth, Washington, six sisters, one brother, six grandchildren, and five great-grandsons. She is preceded in death by: her parents, Carl and Hazel Gilbertson, her husband Ralph Hallquist, her brother, and her son Wesley Hallquist. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, April 15, 2016, at Stevens Funeral Chapel in Othello, Washington.
