Obituary of Gretchen L Gilland

Gretchen Laverne Gilland, age 85, passed away March 26, 2017 at Riverton Assisted Living in Richland, Washington. She was born in Ava, Missouri on March 10, 1932 to parents, Rea and Dora Brooks. Her family moved to Selah when Gretchen was 13 years old, where she would later meet the love of her life, William Gilland. Gretchen and William were married February 9, 1948, and moved to Othello in 1969. They enjoyed 62 years of marriage. William passed away November 18, 2010. Gretchen was an active member of the Othello Senior Center for many years, she also belonged to a motor home club, as she had a passion for the great outdoors and traveling with William and her friends. Her adventours spirit carries on in those she leaves behind, her children: Judy (Tom) Warren of Moses Lake, Washington, Jerry (Sue) Gilland of Othello, Washington, Hallie Miller, of Kennewick, Washington and Hershel (Denice) Gilland of Othello, Washington. Gretchen also leaves behind six grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, two sisters, nieces, nephews, and many friends, to cherish her loving memory. Gretchen will forever be missed, but never forgotten. We will hold dear all the wonderful memories we have shared. She's preceded in death by husband William Gilland, parents Rea and Dora Brooks, grandson John Gilland, and brother Robert Brooks. The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to doctors and their staff. Also Riverton and Hospice staff. A visitation will be held from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Thursday, March 30, 2017, at Stevens Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, March 31, 2017, at Stevens Funeral Chapel in Othello, Washington. Gretchen will be laid to rest at Bess Hampton memorial Gardens. A reception will follow at Pine Street Baptist Church, 1130 E Pine Street Othello, Washington, immediately following.
