Obituary of Joseph "Joe" John Jacob

Joseph “Joe” John Jacob, 74, of Othello, Washington, passed away July 3, 2017 at the Othello Community Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.  He was born on December 23, 1942 in Granger, Utah to John and Dorothy Jacob. Joe graduated from Granger High School and took some college classes.  He married Margaret Ann Taylor on June 21, 1963. He worked as a Research Argonomist for U & I Sugar Company. He was always interested in business. He was a natural salesman. He sold custom printed t-shirts and hats. He also sold wood stoves. Later in life he became a truck driver. He always enjoyed being on the road. Margaret and Joe were together 20 years and had 8 children, 5 girls and 3 sons.  In July 1987 he married Darlene Moffit. They were together 1 year and had a daughter. He married Melinda Nay on June 19, 1993.  He became a father to her 3 children and together they had a son. Joe was a hard worker and he enjoyed farming, traveling, camping, storytelling, and building things such as rabbit hutches from scratch. He loved to read and kept up with current news in the world and the LDS church. He had a love for dogs and had many throughout his life. Some of his talents included; cooking, gardening, singing, and organizing.  His primary passion in life was for his family.  He will be dearly missed.  He is survived by his wife, Melinda Jacob of Othello, Washington, his children: Melanie (Randall) Potter of West Valley, Utah, Carolyn (David) Carton of Clarkston, Washington, Barbara (Mike) Henneke of Roseburg, Oregon, Blythe Jacob (deceased), Kurt Jacob of Ogden, Utah, Raymond Jacob of Ogden, Utah, Melinda (Chris) Kathriner of Ontario, Oregon, Tashina (Ryan) Bosgieter of Ogden, Utah, Brenda “Brian” Jacob of Olathe, Kansas and Adam Jacob of Idaho Falls, Idaho, and step-children: Ray Jones of Moses Lake, Washington, Nathan Jones of Colfax, Washington, and Haunani (Edger) Garcia of Enterprise, Utah.  Joe also leaves behind 26 grandchildren, 6 great-grandsons, and his siblings: Richard (Jackie) Jacob, Claudia (Larry) Anderson, Paul (Pam) Jacob, and Lance (Julie) Jacob. As well as cousins, nephews, and nieces, to cherish his loving memory.  Memorial Services will be held at 7:30 p.m., July 15, 2017 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Stake Center in Othello, Washington.  To leave an online condolence to Joe’s family, please visit our website at www.stevensfc.com.
