Obituary of Ricarda Monroy Rubio
Ricarda Monroy Rubio, age 66, of Othello, Washington passed away July 29, 2017 in Spokane, Washington. She was born in Landa de Matamoros, Querétaro, México on June 15, 1951. She arrived in Othello, Washington in 1977 and raised five children. Ricarda worked at Carnation for several years, but her primary job in life was being a mother to her five children. Throughout her life Ricarda was a fighter that overcame many challenges. When Mount St. Helens blew in 1980 she was involved in a really bad car accident where she was almost killed. Through many months of therapies and reconstructive surgeries she managed to make a full recovery. In 1986 she went through surgery to have a benign tumor the size of a softball removed from her abdominal area. Again, her desire to overcome any challenge allowed her to make a full recovery. In 2003, she was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Through a nine hour surgery and her willingness to not give up she once again overcame her challenge. She was a fourteen year pancreatic cancer survivor. She enjoyed crocheting, cooking, listening to music, and most of all, she liked having family at her home eating her delicious home cooked meals and enjoying each others company.
Her family paid tribute to her, ‘Our mother was one of the kindest people you could ever meet, she opened her heart and home to all who needed help and a home cooked meal. She will be sorely missed.’
She was survived by her children: Maria and Roy Hernandez of Othello, Washington, Martin and Cassandra Melo of Othello, Washington, Macrino and Maria de Lourdes Melo of Hesperia, California, Pablo Melo Jr. of Moses Lake, Washington, and Gabriel and Adrianna Melo of Pasco, Washington, and siblings: Fidencio and Manuela Monroy of Othello, Washington, Reyna Monroy Rubio(Saul) of Mexico City, Mexico, Eva Monroy Rubio (Antonio) of Queretaro, Mexico, Maria Concepcion Monroy Rubio (Miguel) of Mexico City, Mexico, Samuel Monroy Rubio (Anna) of Queretaro, Mexico, Sara Monroy Rubio (Jesus) of Queretaro, Mexico, Maria Guadalupe Monroy Rubio (Francisco) of Queretaro.
