Obituary of Jose C Mendez

Jose Cavazos Mendez, 86, of Othello, Washington, went home to be with the Lord on October 23, 2019. 

Funeral services will be held at Bethel Assembly of God, 915 S. 1st Avenue, Othello, WA  on October 30th at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Samuel Garza officiating.  Burial will follow at Bess Hampton Memorial Gardens.  Viewing will be held on Tuesday, October 29th at 5:00 p.m.  Stevens Funeral Chapel will be handling the funeral arrangements.

Jose was born in Pearsall, Texas to Alonzo and Andrea Cavazos Mendez. Jose accepted Jesus as his savior 64 years ago and was a devoted Christian family man.  He and his wife, Alicia, this year celebrated 65 years of marriage. He worked for many years as a small local farmer and retired at the age of 72.  He enjoyed daily worship with gospel music, gardening, and spending time with his family.

Jose is survived by his wife Alicia Gutierrez Mendez of Othello, his sons and daughters, Danny and Tina Mendez of Othello; Joe and Letty Mendez of Olympia; Gilbert and Angie Mendez of Pasco, Washington. He is also survived by his eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. In addition, Jose is survived by one brother, five sisters, several brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws, along with many nephews and nieces residing in Washington, Texas, California, and Colorado.  He is preceded in death by his granddaughter, two brothers, two sisters, and his parents.
