Obituary of Darren Lee Laughlin

Darren Lee Laughlin passed away unexpectedly on January 19, 2020, in Othello, WA, at the age of 26. On April 17, 1993 at 11:11, in Othello, WA, Darren was born to John Calzadillas, and was raised by Max Sanchez. He graduated from Othello High School in 2011. Darren met the love of his life, Delila Franco, in 2011. He worked for the East Columbia Basin Irrigation District, his favorite part of his job was playing cards during lunch and after work, it was what he called "easy money." Darren loved to spend his time outdoors, hunting or fishing on his boat. If you went fishing with him you would know his favorite phrase was "It ain't fishing, it's catching when you're with me." He also loved supporting his daughters in their sports and school activities, if he wasn't fishing on the lake, he was at a park watching soccer, a lot of teeball and softball. Darren later found passion for MMA fighting, but soon gave it up to spend more time with his family, his record was 2-2. Darren had a love for basketball, he played in Hoopfest and was proud of his Hoopfest accomplishments, to which one year he broke his hand and still won the championship game. His favorite hobby was Fortnite, he could spend hours on end yelling into his mic at anyone he played with. Darren is survived by his father, John Calzadillas. Grandparents, Lee and Suzi Laughlin, Grandma Rosie Loveland, and Grandma Carmen Calzadillas. He is also survived by his brothers, Austin Sanchez, James and Josh Calzadillas, and sisters Camryn Calzadillas and Laina Fernandez. Darren left behind his girlfriend of 9 years, Delila Franco and their three daughters Lovie, 13, Dionne River, 4 and Devyn Skye, 18 months. Darren is preceded in death by his Dad, Max Sanchez, Grandpa Mike Sanchez, Great Grandma Agnes Sanchez, Grandparents Jorge and Bea Calzadillas, and his Grandpa Fred Calzadillas. A reception will follow after the burial, in the Sacred Heart Church Gathering place.
