Obituary of Juan C Martinez

On Wednesday, September 16, 2020, Our loving father, Juan Campos Martinez, went to heaven at the age of 80. He was born on May 24, 1940 in Edinburg, TX to Antonio and Maria Campos Martinez. He was an Indirect Fire Infantryman in the US Army , he served in Vietnam from 1962-1965 than was honorably discharged. Since the early age of 12 our father got a job as a telegram delivery boy who traveled on his bicycle 3.5 hours daily. Later as a milk distributor at a creamery and a worker in a fruit factory. After his fathers death he took on the responsibility of man of the house leading the family from state to state to work migrant farm work. He later would retire from Lamb-Weston in Connell, WA after working there for 35 years. On June 1968, he married Maria Flores in Salem, Oregon. They raised 7 children. Dad loved his family. He took great joy in his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Dad loved to fish and enjoyed working on outdoor projects. He loved giving his family advice based on his own personal experience. He was an expert on wildlife facts and also was always up to date on the latest news and politics. He loved going down to the nearest Yokes for a cup of coffee and to shoot the breeze with people. He also loved taking his chances on lottery tickets. Dad was a simple and humble man with a giving heart. He was always surprising us with random gifts, things he thought we needed or would make us happy. Dad was preceded in death by his parents, Antonio and Maria, daughter Maribel, grandson Gabriel,, and 2 brothers, Alonzo and Paul. He is survived by 6 children, Silvia (Tony) Martinez of Othello Wa, Sharon (Sergio) Martinez of Moses Lake Wa, Marlen (Luis) Cruz of Othello, Wa, Jay Martinez of Las Vegas, Nv, Fernando Martinez of Kennewick Wa, Anna Christina Martinez of Moses Lake, Wa. 19 grand children, and 11 great grandchildren. Flowers may be sent to Stevens Funeral Home. **Please note that due to COVID, there is a 30 person limit at a time and attendees must wear a mask at the services. The rosary will be for immediate family only due to this COVID restriction.
