Obituary of Javier M Garza

Javier M Garza was born October 18th, 1953 in Los Ramones, Nuevo Leon, Mexico to Paula Montemayor Villarreal () and Narciso Garza Montemayor(). Siblings in order: Eudelio Garza Montemayor, Jesus Garza Montemayor, Maria De Los Angeles Garza Montemayor (), Oliverio Garza Montemayor, Rosendo Garza Montemayor, Zulema Garza Montemayor, Benito Garza Montemayor and Olga Lidia Garza Montemayor. At a young age, Javier would sell chewing gum and polish shoes to help his parents out financially. In 1970, at the age of 17, he and his brother Rosendo went to Anchorage, Alaska to work in the fur industry. They made fur coats and parkas. He had many stories of his time in Alaska. When he came back home, he helped his dad with the ranch, caring for animals and harvesting. He later worked in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico in refrigeration. During one of his trips back home in 1976, he met his wife, Yolanda Valdez, at a dance. They began dating in 1977. They married on March 10, 1979. Yolanda loved that he loved his parents and helped them so much. He had a great heart and was a family man. They welcomed their first child, Erika Mendez, in January of 1980. That same year in November, they moved to Austin, Texas where he worked in construction. A few years later, they moved to Othello, Washington and made their home. He first worked in the apple orchards. In September of 1984, Javier and Yolanda welcomed their first son, Javier Garza Jr and then their last child, Jose Carlos Garza in 1987. Javier and his brothers-in-law invested in trucks for truck driving in 1993. Javier dedicated himself to hauling potatoes locally for 20 years. He worked at Cenex seasonally for 15 years. During his truck driving career he survived 3 accidents – God always protected him. He was a very spiritual and religious man, completely dedicated to Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Othello. In May 2001, he lived his Cursillo in East Wenatchee, WA. He participated in Cursillos as a leader (rector) to help others grow in their Catholic faith, for a total of 18 years. In 2014, he and his wife participated in “Un Encuentro Matrimonial Mundial,” while celebrating their 35 year wedding anniversary. This was a very special time in which their vows were renewed. Along with serving in church as a Eucharist Minister, Javier was always a man of great faith. He was a loving husband and amazing father to his children. He always helped his wife in all that he could, especially in the care of his children. He taught them to work hard, respect all, be humble, and help others when in need. He loved his grandchildren dearly and was always ready to play with them. He enjoyed spending his vacations back in Mexico with his family. He loved horses. After retiring, Javier loved to garden vegetables every season. He enjoyed working in the yard, keeping his grass very green. Regardless of his own medical issues, he was always lending a helping hand and will be greatly missed by all of those who knew him. Preceded in death by his mother, father and sister. Lovingly remembered by his wife Yolanda Valdez Garza, Daughter Erika Mendez (Jeremy Mendez), son Javier Garza Jr. (Janette Lopez Garza), and son Jose Carlos Garza. Grandchildren: Jeremy, Emily, and Alexander Mendez; Ian, Jenevee, Evelee and Ethan Javier Garza; His brothers and sisters (names above) and many nieces and nephews. God called Javier on November 30th, 2020, to live his fifth day. He is remembered by all who knew him as a loving and noble man. En 2014, él y su esposa participaron en “Un Encuentro Matrimonial Mundial”, mientras celebraban su 35 aniversario de bodas. Este fue un momento muy especial en el que renovaron sus votos. Además de servir en la iglesia como ministro de la Eucaristía, Javier siempre fue un hombre de gran fe. Fue un esposo amoroso y un padre maravilloso para sus hijos. Siempre ayudó a su esposa en todo lo que pudo, especialmente en el cuidado de sus hijos. Les enseñó a trabajar duro, respetar a todos, ser humildes y ayudar a los demás cuando lo necesitaban. Amaba mucho a sus nietos y siempre estaba dispuesto a jugar con ellos. Disfrutaba pasar las vacaciones en México con su familia. Amaba los caballos. Después de jubilarse, a Javier le encantaba cultivar verduras cada temporada. Le gustaba trabajar en el jardín, manteniendo su césped muy verde. Independientemente de sus propios problemas médicos, siempre estaba prestando ayuda donde podía y todos los que lo conocieron lo extrañarán mucho. Le precedieron en la muerte su madre, su padre y su hermana. Recordado con cariño y amor por su esposa Yolanda Valdez Garza, su hija Erika Mendez (Jeremy Mendez), su hijo Javier Garza Jr. (Janette Lopez Garza) y su hijo Jose Carlos Garza. Nietos: Jeremy, Emily y Alexander Mendez; Ian, Jenevee, Evelee y Ethan Javier Garza; Sus hermanos y hermanas (nombres arriba) y muchas sobrinas y sobrinos. Dios llamó a Javier el 30 de noviembre de 2020 para vivir su quinto día. Todos los que lo conocieron lo recuerdan como un hombre noble y amoroso.
