Obituary of Graciela G Melendez

Graciela “Chela” Melendez was born in Garza Gonzalez, Nuevo León, Mexico to Julio and Porfiria Garza on February 6, 1947. She met the love of her life, Marcos Melendez, Sr. in 1966 and were married on December 27, 1968 in Garza Gonzalez, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. They moved to Othello in 1970 where they started their family and raised their 3 children. In 2008, she and her son Marcos Melendez, Jr. relocated to Pasco, Washington to live closer to and help care for her newly born triplet granddaughters. She devoted her life to her children and grandchildren. She retired from Washington State Migrant Council in 2011 and devoted her free time to the church. She is survived by her brother Jesus (Olga) Garza and her three children, who made up the entirety of her world: Jesus (Angelica) Melendez, Marcos Melendez Jr. and Nereida (Mackenzie) Wright and 5 grandchildren: triplet granddaughters Alyssa Jean Melendez, Samantha Grace Melendez and Jessica Ava Melendez, and grandsons Mateo James Wright and Marcus Jesus Wright. She enjoyed baking with her grandchildren, gardening, listening to Christian music, reading the Bible, watching her granddaughters play softball, and spending time with her family. Our beloved mother was the foundation of our family. She was the strongest, most caring, and loving woman we could have known and was the greatest example of unconditional love. Her legacy will live on in her children and grandchildren. Graciela went to be with the Lord on January 22, 2021. She will be greatly missed by her children, grandchildren, her dog Mila and countless family and friends. She is preceded in death by the love of her life, Marcos Melendez, Sr.; parents Julio and Porfiria Garza and sisters Lydia Cantu and Eusebia Cantu.
