Obituary of Bonnie Louise Beckley

Bonnie Beckley, 81, of Arlington, left this world suddenly at her home on February 16, 2022 in the presence of her son. Bonnie was born on April 4, 1940 in Glasgow, Montana to Murl and Myrle Dodge. She grew up in Seattle and graduated from Lincoln High School 1958. She chased her dreams and met the love of her life, Scott, raising a family in Othello. She was a skilled piano and violin player and filled her home with music. She taught piano lessons and musical kindergarten before becoming a valued member of the Othello School District serving as an elementary school secretary for 23 years retiring in 2003. The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Bonnie. She loved spending time with family, especially grandkids and great-grandchildren as well as her many friends. She continued her passion for music while in assisted living entertaining residents playing her favorite tunes on the piano. She loved simple walks on the beach. You could frequently find her taking long walks through the trails of Mukilteo. Bonnie loved taking her grandkids to the beach at Mukilteo feeding the birds, eating ice cream, and collecting shells. Her pleasant personality was contagious with everyone she met. Over the years Bonnie was involved in many community activities such as writing a community column in the Othello Outlook, serving as a leader for Top Cut Ranchers 4-H Club, member of Jaycees, and founding member of the Othello High School Music Boosters. Bonnie is survived by daughters and family; Judi and John Giem of Roseville, California, Jeannie and Bob Brown of Lacey, and Janet Needham of Moscow, Idaho; and son, Brian and his wife Ann of Arlington, sister and spouse Betty and Ron Matwe, brother John Dodge both of Everett; special niece, Nancy Cortez of Moses Lake, twelve grandkids, six great-grandchildren, and other cousins, nieces, and nephews. Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband, Scott and her parents Murl and Myrle Dodge. A memorial service celebrating Bonnie’s life will be held at Stevens Funeral Chapel on Saturday, February 26th, at 1:00 p.m. followed by a short reception. There will be a private interment at Bess Hampton Cemetery.
