Obituary of Carmen Esparza Salinas
Carmen was born in 1929, rough times, but she grew strong with all her work and her chores. She told of many trips to the well for water because the house did not have running water, cooking on an open fire, it was her life. She would tell tales of riding horses without saddles. When she worked she worked hard but when it was time to rest on Sundays we had to go to church and then come home and listen to music it was either country western or Mexican didn’t know it until now that those were memories being made, I thought it was torture at the time.
My mother would live for her westerns and for wrestling. She would name all her favorite actors and her favorite westerns that they were in. She also loved to laugh and loved comedy movies. She would watch all the wrestling she could just to hate the bad guys. I still remember her getting mad at the wrestlers playing the bad guys.
I remember coming home from school and she would be sitting her chair doing the crossword puzzle in the TV guides, as she got older her love of puzzles did not subside she went on to doing Sudoku and color books just keeping her mind sharp.
My mom had a green thumb and loved to tend to her plants and vegetables outside. She would roll out with her walker and pick flowers and whatever vegetable was ready. It was hard to hold her down because she was also a stubborn women who wanted to do her own thing and she would.
She will be missed but never forgotten because she touched all our lives in certain ways that we will all remember her for. Love you mom.
