Please share a memory of Janie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Janie M. Ruiz was born on Dec 26, 1951, in Edinburg, Texas to Elvira Burciage and Alberto Morales. After a short battle with lung cancer she died on Oct 2, 2022, at Vallejo, California. There are not enough words to describe our beautiful sister Janie. She will be remembered as a beloved daughter, sister, wife mother and G-Mom. She was a passionate pet lover and faithful to her parakeet Mr. Blue, cats Baby Girl and Baby and her late dog Chiquita. She has an amazing green thumb and could grow just about anything. Her "yard" was filled with colorful and fragrant plants and flowers such as jasmine, roses, cactuses and tropical plants. It was her private paradise. She had a great artistic talent with drawing and sewing. She could paint something and make it beautiful and colorful. She was an amazing seamstress and made her daughter's clothes and elaborate Halloween costumes. She sewed her brother Benny's eighth-grade promotion suit. Janie grew up in Othello, WA but spent 35 years and final days in California. She worked 19 years for Vallejo School District as a kitchen helper. She made sure her students had a balanced school meal. Although she retired in 2021, she did not live long enough to enjoy it. Janie is preceded in death by her stepfather Benjamin Ruiz, brother Lucas and mother Elvira. She is survived by her children Jose (Cory) of Othello, WA, Corina (Alan) of Kuna, Idaho, Kristina (Victor) of Sacramento, California, Jessie (Jimmy) of Suisun City, California and Gina (Sergio) of Vallejo, California; 10 beautiful grandchildren and three pet. She is also survived by her siblings Bert Morales of Othello, WA, Celia (Charlie) Guzman of Moses Lake, WA, Benny Ruiz of Othello, WA, and Martin (Carol) Ruiz of Pasco, WA. Per Janie's request she will be laid to rest by her mother and brother on May 12, 2023, at Bess Hampton Memorial Gardens. Funeral arrangements are in the care of Stevens Funeral Chapel, Othello, WA. Our beautiful Sis, you are deeply missed and may you Rest in Peace. We LOVE you!
