To Jose, Noemi, Gloria and Martha our deepest condolences to you all. The passing of Pastora Gloria Rico has truly sadden me. I know she is with the Lord and that is what brings me comfort and hope. I still remember the first Sunday walking into Bethel in Othello and meeting for the first time our temporary Pastors, at least that is what we were told, I was only 12 years old, but the Lord decided differently and allowed them to stay until their last breath. I went on to get married in Mexico December of 1985 and came back to Othello with my husband Sam in February 1986. Both of us 21 and 17 years of age were blessed to have them as our first pastors. Not only our first pastors but our first neighbors. One memory that’s vivid in my mind is going to the Dr on my due date of our first child and we were told I needed an emergency C section, I was terrified and both my husband and I went straight to our pastors/neighbors and I was crying. When they saw me crying and terrified I couldn’t help to see the concern on their face, they said Que pasa? When we told them they both smiled and said, oh nada porque preocuparse! Esa operaciones son muy común, ay mujeres que escogen la operación por gusto” needless to say after such a sweet prayer I left with Confidence and had my baby boy and 4 other children after, but that prayer helped me have my children with no fear! So many memories, so many visits, talks! My favorite was every night we looked across the street before going to bed just to make sure everything looked ok and one night we saw the car outside turned on with the lights on, we waited a while staring through our window and we didn’t see any movement, so we decided to give them a call and sure enough they had forgotten to turn the car off. They thanked us for watching over them and we had a nice laugh. Now I’m 56 and my mind is going down memory Lane only to be even more grateful to the Lord to have know Pastors that helped, guided, and Loved us unconditionally. Today my husband and I celebrate 11 years Pastoring in Connell and we know the sacrifice that you their children went through so that your parents could lead Gods people and indeed they did. Forever Grateful! One sweet day we will meet again!
