DOB 09/10/1946 DOD 09/05/2024 Times could change for Memorial for Mr Barrett NAME: Robert James Barrett NICKNAME: Bob DOB: 9/10/1946 PLACE OF BIRTH: Albuquerque, NM DATE OF DEATH: 9/05/2024 CITY OF DEATH: Othello, WA FAMILY INFORMATION: Only surviving member is brother Tony Barrett, living in Lacey, WA Birth mother, Rosalie (Ruvolo) Barrett died 1948; stepmother Verna Barrett died 1989; father James Barrett died 1997; brother Brian Barrett died 2022 EDUCATION: Graduated high school in Quincy 1964; earned Bachelor of Arts in History at WSU 1968; Masters in Education at Central Washington University in 1982 MILITARY SERVICE: Served as a Personnel Records Specialist at Fort Ord, California June 1972 - March 1974; transferred to a Reserve Regiment in Moses Lake until Honorable Discharge in June 1978. CAREER: Hired as a teacher at Othello High School August 1968 where he taught until he was drafted into the Army in June 1972. After his Army service, Bob returned to Othello where he resumed teaching in 1974, until he retired in June 2006. Bob taught psychology, economics, US history, social studies, and drivers education. Bob worked with local newspapers, writing sports articles and sharing his sports photos. HOBBIES & ACTIVITIES: Bob was an avid student of photography and really enjoyed wildlife photography, especially birds, and high school sports. He loved sharing his sports photos with the community and with students and their parents, and probably gave away hundreds of photos over the years.
