DOB 10/06/1960 DOD 09/08/2024 Written & provided by family. Brenda Fullmer October 6, 1960 – September8, 2024 Brenda was born in Blackfoot Idaho and spent the first few years of her life there. At the age of 5 the family moved to Moses Lake where Brenda attended elementary school. It was here that her life long love of books began. From the beginning she was an avid reader and loved school. At the age of 12 the family moved to Kennewick, Washington where she attended middle school and her freshman year of high school. She was an excellent student and was in the honor society her freshman year. She was also active in the Young Women’s program at church, serving in class presidencies and attending youth conferences and girls camp. After her freshman year the family moved to Shelley, Idaho where Brenda attended and graduated from Shelley High School. Brenda then enrolled at Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho where she would attain her Associates Degree in Elementary Education. It was during this time that the family relocated to Othello, Washington. Brenda transferred to Washington State University where she received a Bachelor Degree in Education. Brenda then returned to Othello where she began her 36 year teaching career in the Othello School District. She taught first grade for the majority of her career with a couple stints teaching second grade. She always found great joy in teaching her students. She was always willing to go the extra mile to help those students that struggled. She always thought that is was important that the students not only excelled in learning the curriculum but they also learned to be kind to each other, respect other students and their teachers. While teaching she also took classes and received her Masters Degree. Brenda was active in her church. Over the years she served in the Primary, nursery, Young Women’s and Relief Society. She was a long time activity day leader for the girls, sharing her love for crafting and art projects with the young ladies. Brenda loved visiting the Oregon Coast in the summer with her mom, relaxing and reading by the ocean. As the family grew those times at the coast were shared by her brother Bart’s family and it became a yearly tradition. Her niece and nephew often spent several weeks during the summer in Othello where they both learned to swim and grew to love and appreciate their Aunt Brenda. Brenda was also a great cook and was always willing to provide meals when asked. The Christmas candy dishes that she and mom made each year were legendary! Brenda is preceded in death by her father Max and Mother Alta. She is survived by her brother Bart and nephew Paul (Stesha), niece Julianne (Ryan) and grand nieces Paisley, Parker and Blair. In lieu of flowers a Go Fund Me has been set up to help fund the Hyawatha Elementary School annual Luau. This was a very important event for the Brenda, one that she dedicated a lot of time and effort to.
