Elva Dolores (Fullmer) Davis Born: November 13, 1928 near Tetonia, ID Died: September 18, 2024 Kennewick, WA Parents: Don and Elva (Beard) Fullmer (both deceased) Brothers and Sister: James (deceased), Gene (deceased), Donna Mae (deceased), and Ronnie (Tetonia, ID) Husband: Bud Davis (deceased) Brother and Sister in-laws: Dee (deceased), Bob (deceased), Renee (deceased), Carma (Othello, WA), Norma (deceased), Carolee (Arco,ID), Donald (Sagle, ID), Joyce (Pasco, WA) Children: Mike (New Meadows, ID), Steven (deceased), Kurt (Othello, WA), David (Black Diamond, WA) Her parents owned a small ranch near Tetonia, Idaho and growing up on the ranch and in its surrounding landscape shaped the rest of her life and identity. As a result she has enjoyed working at useful things and always stressed that you should enjoy the work that you have to do. Her father loved ranching and the Teton Basin and her mother was an oil painter who loved painting the Teton Peaks and generally had an easel sitting by a window that looked out on the Teton Peaks. The Teton Basin is one of those special landscapes that cannot help but have an indelible impact on a person. The surrounding small communities were tightly knit, closely related, and predominantly LDS (Mormon) all of which promoted close and lasting connections. There was lots to do both work and play and although she grew up during The Depression of the 1930’s they were fortunate to always have enough to eat, although like many others not to much in the way of personal material goods. She never lost those frugal tendencies. During WWII her two older brothers were in the military and as a result she did more on the ranch than she might have without her brothers being gone and she loved it. In addition she brought in some extra income by driving tractor and working at other duties at the Agricultural Research Station near the ranch and working on a dude ranch near Jackson Hole, Wyoming just over the mountains from the Teton Basin. It was always a highly anticipated treat to visit the Teton Basin and her family over the years. In 1948 she married Bud Davis in Elko, Nevada (they eloped). She had known his family from the Teton Basin and had attended grade school at Haden School in the Teton Basin with three of his sisters and a brother (Renee, Carma, Norma, and Bob). Over the years they did lots of things with Bud’s family i.e. Carma and Joyce as they lived close by. Bud was a heavy equipment operator and during the early years of their marriage they travelled and lived around Idaho, Nevada, Montana, and Washington following Bud’s construction jobs doing road construction, mining, and eventually land leveling in the Othello area where they moved in 1954 and, with the exception of a year in Montana, where they stayed. During their marriage they had four sons all of whom graduated from Othello High School. Kurt and David were born in Othello; while Mike and Steven were born in Driggs, Idaho. Mike is married to Karen and they have a daughter Cassidy; Steven who is deceased and Becky had two daughters Kasey and Brooke; Kurt and Betty have two daughters and a son Nicole, Billie, and Bud; and David and Cheryl also have two daughters and a son Amber, Stefani, and Tyler. In addition there are nine great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. During her life in Othello Dolores was active in the LDS Church, worked hard raising four boys, worked for a while as a cook in the schools, volunteered for elections, the fair, and Red Cross Blood Drives, ran a seamstress business out of her home for many years, and helped raise grandkids when she was needed. She had a full life and was well loved by those around her.
